Here’s a link to another post at Salon that deals with the intersection of politics and religion. Glenn Greenwald seems to share Armstrong’s view (see Faith and Development) that logos and mythos need to be separate. Also, Bush comes across a lot like the Pope dd in the previous post I linked to. I hope to have more on this later.
It is old, but it is beautiful,
And its colors they are fine
It was worn at Derry, Aughrim,
Enniskillen and the Boyne.
My father wore it as a youth
In bygone days of yore
And on the Twelfth I love to wear
The sash my father wore.
It is gorgeous, but we must remain focused & critical. It’s a bit glitchy. It is not an Attribute of God. And the Jobs is full of carp.
I read recently about a new law which has been posited: that there is an inverse proportionality between the interest shown by an individual in his telephone technology and the interesting conversation one can expect from that individual. iPhone, 3G, blackberry lovers out there take note.
It is difficult to know the proper words. Tony Blair steps down as British prime minister, tomorrow, ending an extraordinary ten years in office. In many respects it has been his Britain that rewrote me. His impact has thundered through an old order. And in every way, though his successor has potential that exceeds him, this was a premiership like no other. I learnt much, Prime Minister.
nemoDreamer is going to turn the “Extras” column into a Facebook-style Wall, on which anyone and everyone can write. Isn’t that great?
How about a skyscraper that is a farm? I think it sounds fabulous.
Famed American philosopher, Richard Rorty, has died. Does this make us post-post-modern? We need analysis, people. What happens after post-modernity? Transcendant truth? The death of nihilism? Or, as a few theologians in Nottingham propose, Radical Orthodoxy?

I think I have too much testosterone. When I walk up the street I want to fight all the other males. Not because I have anything against them. Its just for a bit of fun. But it confirms the fact that I have the spiritual equivalent of a virus.
This chap has his head screwed on right: “The challenge is to reach out to the wider community, to build a progressive consensus on the common ground that exists between secularists and faith communities - to reduce the extremism within our midst.” And it’s hard to argue with his examples.
The mornings are tough. At 7.45am already I’m hours late and catching up with the emails, wall posts, poke wars, jokes, link referrals, insults, invitations, requests, and general clamour for my attention, of a world five hours in the future, five thousand kilometers away.
