But surely the nobler purpose of global governance is to treat justly the hundreds of millions of humans who are perhaps more badly treated than the great apes. But I think the survival of these species is more important at this moment. I do think the humans are more important from a strictly logical perspective. But logic also suggests that humans aren't endangered. These millions you mention will still need help after the gorilla and polar bear has disappeared. I agree in principle.
