Hundreds of unsuspecting Japanese dog lovers have discovered that the Australian and British poodles they were sold are actually sheep. Hmm…

    Silly people. I got a good laugh from the idea of a celebrity taking her sheep onto a talk show and wondering why it doesn’t bark. Somehow, though, I think this is a comment on intensive urbanization moreso than it is on Japan.

    it’s like people being appalled when they find out that milk comes from cows. what planet do we live on?! intense urbanization, and not enough sheep on reality TV…

    dear friends, when this poodle-sheep mistaken identity starts to be blamed on rapid urbanisation I become more interested and so I tried to do some more investigation to see if they could find a good reason for the mixup.I found a photo, in the Sun:

    Now, i think, the only way i can reconcile that a nation as sophisticated and technologically advanced as the Japanese could have been fooled, is that: I myself do not know the difference between a hamster and a gerbil or a rat and mouse, if it was given to me in a bow tie, and i would have to go on trust, like those poor pet-owners did.

    but sanisha, hamsters and gerbils, rats and mice respectively belong to the same species… they have very similar features, body-type, fur, limbs…
    confusing a sheep with a poodle is like taking a cow for a rhinoceros…
