For a reason I don’t really know, the day begins at sunset. So at 1836 this evening the Most Great Ecstasy will arrive: the solar new year, the first day of spring, the spring equinox, the Baha’i New Year. Note that sunset occurs at different moments throughout the country. Imagine that in the future people explode fireworks as sunset approaches, admitting for a moment that it is not fully dark at this time. Imagine, however, standing on top of a mountain and watching the fireworks slowly spread across the land, minute after minute, as sunset reaches every hamlet. There is no dramatic centralisation of joy where the whole world sings Auld Lang Syne at the same moment. This is something more fluid and relativistic, each community gaining a form of spiritual autonomy.

Sarmad this post is the new Template. This is the Crux and we should all write with this new mode of drama and climax in mind and heart.

The clear skies of Spring were harbinged
    as I took my lunchtime constitutional;
and now as I repair homewards
the falling snow is like the moment
when Schwarzenegger used to say ‘I’ll be BACK!’

  5. Sarmad says:

1814: only 12 minutes to go!

  6. Sarmad says:

I erred: 1818, only 18 minutes to go!

  7. Mogogo says:

ITs already the new year over here baby!

  8. Sarmad says:

And just moments after I read the Text, I heard a blackbird phrase. Aye.

Beautifully described. I saw the wave of fireworks approaching from my hillside. I missed you guys: since the big “what happened this morning never happened” row, I had given the Neocrats some distance to think. And then I had a seizure on my way to our Naw-Ruz celebration, and spent a couple days in a hospital bed…
Nice to read about blackbirds and sunsets, and catch up on all your wonderful posts.

  10. Sanisha says:

really sad to hear that you spent some days in hospital nemoD

  11. Mogogo says:

Was our thing that didnt happen responsible for your seizure?

  12. nemoDreamer says:

I told the doctors about the thing that didn’t happen, and they’re quite certain that it was the cause…
