Action stations, action stations. The nineteen days of the Bahá’í Fast will commence at 6.47am GMT, 2nd March: sunrise. As with last year, expect the Neocrats to offer all-new “lessons from starvation”.

I use the opportunity provided by this season to abstain from coffee. I use tea (or lucozade) to cure the really bad headaches. But it is now noon and my eyeballs are starting hurt as I go on a cold turkey. Coffee is a bad thing.

My fav. Mogogo comment from last year was “Fiber. Fiber is very important.”

  2. Sarmad says:

For those who want Holy Ipods - you can download a little app. called Text2iPod which allows you to put big text files on. This way you can read the Writings whereever you are. I have put the ENTIRE God Passes By by Shoghi Effendi on.

  3. Mandel Cola says:

Is fiber important? Please Mogogo, if you have such pearls of dietary wisdom please do share them so we can all benefit. I don’t think I got any (fiber) this morning. Himalayan Goji juice is the go for me.

On the Holy iPod issue, how about an iTune recording of God Passes By? Let me know if you find a good one as I’m reading it at the moment.

  4. Sarmad says:

I really want audio files of Baha’i Texts being read. All I can get is something from an American website - and I can’t stand it. The reading needs to be much better! An actor would need to be used. And there is an urgent need to be able to download audio of the Texts being read in the original language.

  5. Saleem says:

I’m not sure if there is an “urgent” need, but it would be a great asset to the Bahá’í community.

  6. mogogo says:

It is indeed urgent. I am currently lulled to sleep every night by the unabridged audiobook of Rings. Lord of the. Imagine the benefits which would accrue to my soul if this were substituted with the sacred text.

However, i do find the Silmarilion unrivalled as a cure for insomnia.

  7. Saleem says:

It never ceases to amaze me that the Tolkein dweebs think that being put to sleep by their various sacred texts is a good thing.

  8. Saleem says:

I feel it important to denounce the act of clubbing during the Fast.

  9. nemoDreamer says:

clubbing as in “frenetic humid social interaction in dark basements” or “golf-apparel-aided bludgeoning”?

And wouldn’t falling to sleep to the writings be akin to mumbling them absentmindedly while walking down the street?

  10. Sanisha says:

this may be one of the funniest thing i have read on the Neocrats…or is that the tiredness talking ?! I have toast and honey and tea but i think what you eat for breakfast should be determined by two things:

1.what time you are eating - can your body really digest an egg at 5 am ?
2.what are you doing after breakfast-if you are rolling back to bed you could eat anything because all the blood will be rushing to your gut and you may even sleep better but if you have meeting and have to be alert then it be better to go light.

/ipod books and audio text, of any kind, may be the answer to my prayers, thanx guys.

  11. Sarmad says:

The need is urgent because it will facilitate the attractiveness of the Faith in the eyes of many. It took me about year to commit myself fully to the Baha’i Faith (when I was c. 16 years old.) If I had had a good recording of the texts in the original language I would have committed more quickly. But if I had heard the English readings that I recently downloaded, I may have taken longer!

    .

  12. Saleem says:

You would have committed to the religion of reason in hearing the Texts in a language you didn’t know?
