Without the Internet, would you be a lesser person? I believe this to be true of myself. My Mac is my portal to half the world!

How I agree with you! My Mac is also my portal to half (if not more) of the world. I get very twitchy if, for some reason, I’m not broadbanded to the Internet. I feel that life is passing me by and the emails are building up inexorably.
Sad, really. I should get a life!
Mr Leith, I am jealous of your life ! and i will get a Mac too, when I can afford the one that I want.Having no life can get quite expensive!
why don’t you do an experiment Sal. measure your worth for one week when you have unfettered access to the internet and then measure your worth during one week with nil internet access. The problem will be the measure. hmmm. . . what are you worth?
The internet is a tool. Stop worshipping your hammer.
I’d say no.
It is very helpful to find information immediately, like just now when I was telling my boss over the phone about the 28 seat gain in the House by the Dems. (I’m positively glowing with excitement about the possibility for change, yet trying to be cautious because I know with that possibility also comes the potential for making the political quagmire worse…)
But… I find that I’m more of a person in my walks through cities, or reading a book or magazine in a cafe, and in my conversations with people… so no, the Internet does not make me more of a person, and nor should it you.
I’m reminded suddenly of T.S. Eliot’s Prufrock poem… he measures his life in coffee spoons, is it? Alas, we should not measure the value of our lives with logging onto the internet.
Kavitha, I am jealous of your life too!

me too, hello, i agree, in fact i get antsy if i am not connected to useless and important info such as > Saleem you are in fact not connnected to most of North Korea, that’s according to recent sattelite images, which is the most accurate way to ascertain info about their power supply and density of telecommunication networks. In other (better?) news, the mini-skirt is finally legal in South Korea! Drawbacks is that info overload makes one hyperactive - However, the only reason why this is in my memory recall, is because i went by salvai.com recently.
