I have been an avid fan of the Matrix since being blown away by it in 1999. But only tonight i realised that “Neo”, whom Morpheus proclaims to be “The One”, is an anagram of “One”.

Neo means new? STOP THE PRESSES.
It took me years to get some of the puns in Harry Potter. Matrix does borrow a lot from graphic novels, esp. manga which in turn originally came from Disney films I recently found out. (Which explains the big eyes and why the characters never look Japanese).
Is anything ever original?

Yes. Also, Neo means new, but I gather that one is old-hat.
I saw the film again a few weeks ago myself, it’s still pretty cool. Didn’t realise how much it borrowed from cartoon (or graphic novel if you like) styles.
